Welcome Back

Another school year is upon us and what an exciting year it will be! With all the new tools Headquarters has available to you all, you can’t go wrong with a membership to Pi Sigma Epsilon! We have some great new sponsors, a Facebook and LinkedIn page, video conferencing, and new information online! I hope you all are excited for a new school year and ready to compete in Norfolk, VA! Welcome Back!

Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon Competition

Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to be the next top salesperson? Have you ever been on a sales call for the chapter and choked up as soon as they gave you an objection? Well here’s your chance to see what it takes, compete and win some money!!

The Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon is an annual sales competition held by PSE and sponsored by Huthwaite, Inc., Kodak, Northwestern Mutual, and Vector Marketing. The purpose of the competition is to provide the PSE college student with a B2B sales role-play. In addition, PSE will provide you with a coach/mentor to help you prepare for the competition. The Pro-Am takes place at all 6 Regional Conferences and the National Convention in Norfolk, VA in March of 2009! There will be awards for the 1st and 2nd place winners at Regionals. First Place will receive a convention packet at a value of $230 and airfare. Second Place will also receive a convention packet at a value of $230! National Convention winners, ranging from 5th to 1st place will receive a cash prize!

To register for the Pro-Am competition at Regionals, please go to Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon on the left hand side of the PSE homepage (www.pse.org). From there, click on Regional Sign-Up. Keep in mind you must be a dues paid member to attend the Regional Conference and to compete. Also, there is a separate registration to attend the Regional Conference. Please be sure to sign up for both.

Should you have any questions regarding the Pro-Am competition, please contact Ann Devine at ann.devine@pse.org or call your chapter consultant at the office at 800.761.9350.

BOSS Game Registration

It’s that time of year again when the BOSS Games teams start to form! How exciting! For those of you who don’t know much about the BOSS Games, let us tell you.

First, BOSS stands for Business Orientated Strategy Simulation. Teams made up of 5-8 members will compete with other teams in a Marketing Management Simulation game online. All participants will assume the role of a newly-promoted marketing manager. They will make iterative decisions on variables associated with market targeting, product development, price, promotion, sales
promotion and distribution.

The simulation is competitive in that the decisions of one firm will affect the results of all others. Teams will have 8 weeks to create and implement new and improved marketing strategies and re-branding techniques. The winners will be announced at the National Convention. The top 4 teams are awarded a CASH PRIZE! The first place winning team will receive $500!! How can you pass this up?!?

For more information or to explore the website visit: www.shootformars.com

Each chapter will be able to form ONE team at NO COST! Each additional team will cost $40 which shall be paid to PSE HQ.

The deadline to form teams is Monday, September 15th. Please email your school, team name, contact person and team members to Angionette at angionette.splan@pse.org no later than September 15th.

Who’s coming to Regionals?

With your help, we would like the 2008 Regional Conferences to bring us the highest chapter involvement, EVER! Can we make this happen? YES!!! To do this, we need your encouragement, motivation and continual involvement so that all of our members are more than excited to attend their Regional Conference. For more information on Regional Conferences, please visit our website at www.pse.org.

To help the host chapter and PSE HQ be the most prepared for an awesome event, we need the attendance counts from your chapter ASAP! Regional Conferences are happening in November! That is only 2 months away. Please let your Chapter Consultant know how many people your chapter is planning on sending.

PSE Goes Facebook!

Do you have Facebook? I thought so…so does Pi Sigma Epsilon Headquarters! Tracy, our Media Developer, has put together a PSE page on Facebook. In addition to our new PSE Blog, you will be able to post news, videos, create discussions and so forth. This is just one more way for us all to stay in contact with each other and share ideas throughout the year. We have some Corporate Partners that are fans of the page as well, so please keep in mind the content can be fun, but should be professional. To be a fan of the PSE page on Facebook, please go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pi-Sigma-Epsilon/19074104861.

Faculty Advisor’s Page onlineSome of the most important and influential individuals in our Fraternity are our Faculty Advisors. They offer the PSE chapters consistency and often they are the “glue” that holds the chapter together, year after year. We now have a dedicate a page of our PSE website to our Faculty Advisors. Please take the time to review this page. Go to www.pse.org and login. After you log in, go to Chapter Management on the left hand side and take your cursor down to Faculty Advisors. This is a spot where Faculty Advisors can go to review what’s going on, talk with other Faculty Advisors and receive support by discussing chapter topics. At this site, you can see the longevity our Faculty have with PSE. Please join us in recognizing them for their work with the PSE students!

Fill out the Officer Report online

Did you say the Officer Report was online? I sure did! How cool is that!? Now, instead of your Eboard having to gather all their information to fill out the Officer Report and hand it in to Headquarters under the CEI upload, all you have to do is gather the information and simply input the information online. Please log into the PSE website and go to Chapter Management on the left hand tool bar. Then, take your cursor to Update Officer Report. You can sort the list by chapter name or school. This way, every chapter is able to view each others information. Thus, you can use your peers as mentors and support. You’ll never know what kind of ideas you can come up with when you talk to a friend from another chapter. Also by doing this, we trust that you’ll take 10 minutes to fill it out, as you can get POINTS for it!

How to get excited for the school year

Over the summer, PSE Headquarters has made numerous improvements to the website and added some features to make your life easier. We feel this is going to be a strong year for everyone. The number of chapters will soon be above 50, which is the best it has been since the early 90’s. We can’t continue to grow with out you, though. You are the reason we keep getting better and better, so please take the time and effort to recruit strongly this year! Here’s what you can do to get excited:

o Browse the PSE website and become very familiar with it
o Check out the new online tools we have created or linked to the website
o Check out your Regional information
o Ask a couple of your friends to join you for a PSE meeting or start thinking about joining
   o Start to recruit otherwise
o Ask your eboard how you can help prepare for the year
o Buy some PSE Pride items that are on sale (see below)

Keep up the good work and if you need any help, or suggestions, please call your consultant at the HQ office at 414.328.1952 or email them, lorice.ratas@pse.org or angionette.splan@pse.org.
